Accutech and Edgescan Deliver Successful Webinar on Preventing Cyber Attacks with Ethical Hacking

In the face of the unprecedented circumstances the pandemic has created for businesses of all sizes, Accutech remains resilient and fully available for its clients, connecting with the public in various convenient ways, this time by delivering a webinar on the usefulness of ethical hacking for cyberattack prevention, held on December 16, 2020.

The 1.5-hour event featured David Kennefick, Information Security Consultant from Accutech’s trusted partner, Edgescan; John Iliadis, IT Infrastructure Manager of Teiresias Banking Information Systems; Nikos Damanakis, CISO of Teiresias S.A.; and Nikos L. Anagnostopoulos, Commercial Director of Accutech. Accutech has been a trusted partner of Edgescan since 2013, and has been delivering vulnerability assessment and pen testing services to Teiresias with great success.

Software-as-service based vulnerability intelligence, full-stack vulnerability management, ethical hacking, and Teiresias S.A. as a success story in this area were all presented, in the framework of a meet-the-expert and meet-the-client approach, supplemented by a live demo of this solution in action.

According to the latest figures, hackers attack somewhere in the world every 39 seconds – on average, that amounts to 2,244 times a day. 40.35% of all internal web application vulnerabilities are estimated to be of high or critical risk to organizations – 68.75% of which are still struggling to recognize and fix web-based vulnerabilities.

With these concerning figures as a starting point, the panel of speakers explored topics related to the dilemma of service vs product in cybersecurity; the security challenges and attack surface of web applications; web apps’ dynamic nature; penetration testing and ethical hacking; vulnerability documentation best practices; service customization for vulnerability intelligence and management.

Banking information systems provider Teiresias was presented as a success story, as an always-on, highly demanding organization where the protection of web apps is high on the list of priorities. The panel talked viewers through the project delivered by Accutech for the banking provider, with a focus on collaboration and customization. Following the presentations was a questions and answers session for viewers, which shed even more light on the solutions at hand.

Moving forward, Accutech plans to continue to organize insightful and helpful presentations, events and webinars to inform those interested in topics of cybersecurity and digital enablement in the corporate sector and beyond, as well as keep you up to date with new developments.
